Easter Loch is situated two miles west of Branxholme Castle, the hereditary seat of the Scotts of Buccleuch since the 15th century. This area served as the centre of power in Upper Teviotdale and lies along one of the principal historic routes south towards England. The loch's outlet is the Newmill Burn.
Walking back to Woodburn Farmhouse through the countryside, you pass by the Chisholme Institute - "a place wholly dedicated to understanding that all existence is essentially one. Its exclusive concern with unity informs the life and work of the place, and all its residents and visitors".
Branxholme Wester Loch is also located near Woodburn.
I know little about these lochs.
I watched a beautiful sunset before heading back to Woodburn Farmhouse, where Charlie was waiting for me. It feels so good to have someone who cares waiting at home.
