March 2025

31th

Been suffering from fasciculation pulling my right thumb toward my right index finger; today it's significantly worse, so have made an appointment to speak to the doctor about it.

30th

Today, after visiting the recycling centre, Charlie joined me in the Kitchen Garden.

Ran out of garden string so Charlie cut three lengths of twine.

Harvested last two potato plants from last year.

Nice sunny, dry afternoon.

This years seeds, Parsnip and Swede, havested from our Kitchen Garden.

We used a few of the seeds today, so I'm now anticipating the results until later in the year.

29th

We parked our truck in Hawick high street to see the Reivers procession.

After a horse passed by us it bolted, thankfully the rider calmly dismounted.

Later, around 1pm we visited the wee haugh to find the festival abandoned.

26th

Trimmed my rose bush and experienced anxiety aversion triggered by two walkers passing by my house. They pass by almost every day, they walk at pace and talk a lot; maybe this is a social anxiety anchor that I am to overcome. I've come a long way from walking non-stop fourteen hours a day, too anxious to talk, dissociating from eating and drinking; panic reanimate from fight or flight. I became so traumatised outside, that when I attempted to settle inside, I slept for weeks; my body shutting down, terrorised unto a threshold of death.

25th

We took three ewes and their lambs to auction at Longtown.

After one other mother ewe and her lambs, my ewe and her lamb was last to board.

All aboard!

Money was tight, Charlie fuelled the truck with £6 of diesel; however mother and ewe sold for just under £100 a life.

24th

Its that time of year again, get digging!

We've noticed frolliking frogs at Woodburn Farmhouse for a few days, but today I had mind space to film the garden pond.

In the evening we played carpet bowls, the last weekly session as there is a break now until the autumn; I doubt if I'll be returning.

At the end of play, various prizes were announced; in hindsight, I was relieved this season is over. Many players wanted me to lose, and many players hated losing the few games I won; I've had enough ill feeling in my life to think about how unwell this competitive event made me and others feel.

It appears this event had the same losers and winners as last year, and maybe before that, year-on-year. I play for fun and to socialise familiarity with people within the valley where we live. I am not in the slightest competitive, so was in someways glad not to be part of these carpet bowling awards.

23rd

Walked around Samye Ling.

Mahayana monks arrived here via entrism; the original Buddhist occupants of Johnston Lodge were Theravadan, both Buddhism but with undeniable differences.

The problem with entrism, is that destiny is ignored, altercated and diverted via exploitative methods of misgiving; terrorising descendants into selflessness merely misplaces suffering.

We all know misappropriation cycles harsher Samsara, drawn from beligerent reverance of vendictive sadism; a facade of social normality, forlaying aptitude into unresolvable decline.

Retreat from life magnifies problems drawn to awareness from perspective. Illusions of enlightened as void you created deepened, darker; depthless contempt veiled in false light.

We enjoyed soup and a scone at Eskdalemuir community centre, food was delicious; connected with a kind lady that gave me two nights shelter in the village a few years ago.

22nd

First day with my new second hand Cannon EOS 500D camera; it's 16 years old, has a shutter count of under 3000, and takes great pictures.

Purchasing a half decent camera has been an uphill struggle.

Sorting mother ewes and their lambs for transport to grasskeep.

Gimmers on the paddock came down to watch.

Charlie couples up the livestock trailer.

Coupled

All mother ewes are drenched wormed before they leave Woodburn.

Unloading.

Charlie drove to Alemoor, I enjoy the space here; without intrusion from weird men taking my picture from small motorbikes.

We dropped by a neighbour to see if he and his sheep were OK.

21st

Replaced the CMOS battery in my XPS laptop today.

As I thought, the battery does not register the correct power with this computers operating system, this is often because its a generic battery part.

And here we have the CMOS battery, to the top right of the laptops main battery, the old CMOS battery is removable without removing the main battery.

The laptop kept forgetting the hardrive, and the computers time in BIOS; so this is first, next I'll will be replacing the M2 SSD, both have a life span of five years.

And this laptop is eight years old. I'm using Linux: Debian Trixie for my OS, the best! The laptop was sold with an arabic keyboard, but the computer sees it as Japanese.

18th

Persueded Charlie to spend his afternoon at my house in Ancrum; we enjoyed a walk along Ale Water.

Mmm, the Ale Water; I'm here.

Friendly horses.

Rescued, and rehomed.

A bird appeared in front of us.

Posed for a shot, it's a rare I walk with people, so I'm enjoying this afternoon walk.

17th

Fresh straw for the...

...ewes and lambs.

16th

We returned to Roberton via Langholm moor.

We failed to get diesel at Newcastleton, and then the pumps were switched off in Hawick; Charlie drove back to Roberton tired, felt relieved to have returned to Woodburn Farmhouse.

15th

Received results from a biopsy, I'm in the clear, another five years until my next scheduled endoscopy; the procedure wasn't pleasant, but I'm restful for this peace of mind. Bright sunny morning in Ancrum, later were heading over to Woodburn for a few days.

Besides a minor eye condition we've had healthy lambs this spring.

Timelapse sunset, filmed for one and a half hours. Birds landed on the phone (mounted on a tripod) but didn't seem to effect the result.

I washed the truck and disinfected the cab with detol spray; Charlie's work wellies had made the truck smell like a dung heap. Fair weather days are quite rare in the Scottish Borders, and even then there is a chill about the wind. Despite the harsh weather, there is an enamouring presence about and around this countryside.

14th

Enjoying Youtube music, favourite tracks include Def Leppard "Animal" (awesome video, my fellas surname is Bostock), Boston "More Than a Feeling" and Van Halen "Jump" and "Why can't this be love", yeh, classic rock is definately my favourite. Judas Priest, ZZ Top all rock bands are great, and Whitesnake "here I go again" at Donnington 90, the fireworks, wow.

Early this morning our last mother ewe lambed, we have now finished lambing, in a fortnight they'll all go to grasskeep and the farmhouse will once again be quiet! Jobs done at the farmhouse there are new projects beginging (hopefully with Charlies help) building a low rider (hard tail) chopper; a journey in itself, we know we don't have to be moving to travel.

Bit disappointed with Ancrum, attending a Community Council meeting and objecting to the village green being turned into a playing field I was set on by a pack of wolves. Dissenting opinion is scorned in this village but I'll tell you, they wrongfully villified the wrong person because, I'd rather be a homeless wanderer than be one of those nice to be nice, sheeple.

Yes "owner of a lonely heart".

13th

Been a while since I posted, going to update this tonight.

10th

Another new lamb today, only two mother ewes to lamb.

Charlie was worried this half blind mother ewe was going to die after she ground her teeth for hours.

Finished the small room at Woodburn Farmhouse I've been decorating.

9th

Charlie built a lamb creep today.

Sam the sheep dog thinks it's a great idea.

8th

Stumpy lamb.

She's not as friendly as she used to be, next year she'll be a mother ewe.

The others are very friendly, notably when they think they are going to be fed!

Panoramic view from up here, along the paddock.

6th

We bidded on grasskeep at St Boswells cattle market today and leased the same field for £130 more than last year.

Bacon roll at the cafe was tasty, we wanted to eat lunch there but Charlie is at work this afternoon.

With the extra grasskeep money Charlie purchased a ring feeder and ewe / lamb pellets; it's a lovely sunny day today.

5th

Begun wallpaper stripping.

Small room at Woodburn Farmhouse.
