Shearing

In the morning, I cleaned out the trailer while Charlie finished putting up new hurdles. This meant the flock at the first grass keep could be sheared. Once we were ready, we loaded up and set off.

Charlie sheared the sheep at the first grass keep. After we set up a pen, we managed to catch about a third of the flock by luring them with ewe nuts.

We sheared the Teeswaters. The wool from one of our pedigree sheep was of poor quality because she had almost died a few months ago. We started with her since she was the dirtiest.

Charlie trimmed and sprayed violet on two ewes’ hooves since they were lame. We finished early and let the ewes go, only shearing six sheep because Charlie had to leave for work. The evening was quiet. After making fish, chips, and mushy peas, I settled down to knit while Charlie took a bath. He cleans up nicely.
