Charlie has made me the beginning of a kitchen herb garden; for a planter he's used an old filing cabinet.
Taking out the inside shelves he found hand made metal nails; meaning the box is over two hundred years old. This morning I accompanied Charlie to Borders General hospital for a minor surgical procedure; our visit was swift, doctor, nurse and receptionists were polite and helpful. Charlie drove back to my house in considerable pain but rested before driving us both back to Woodburn; where I made a barbecue.
I cooked chicken drum sticks and beef burgers, we enjoyed avocado salad for a side dish. Sam the sheep dog is all about the barbecue, in-between drinking pond water!
I cooked for anarchists in the year of 1996 when I lived in Eastville, Bristol, but becoming displaced destitute for two decades, I had not been able to cook for anybody.
Charlie was eager to show me the beans in the kitchen garden, he's worried about the frost killing the plant before we get chance to harvest the pods. We planted late, so will probably only get small beans this year.
Our potatoes are also ready to harvest.
Last year we replanted old potatoes that were to far gone to eat, this year we planted seed potatoes; the plants are much healthier and we are expecting a larger crop yield.
There is a video clip (which I'll upload later) of our sheep running down the paddock hill to feed from pellets; when I'm at my house in Ancrum I miss these sheep.
